Walz Tetrick expanded their office space to two new floors of the building. Therefore, brand new EVERYTHING. In addition to being on the interior decorating team, I was given the opportunity to adopt a wall on the new creative floor and let my imagination go wild.

I decided to take a look at what is at the core of every creative, every team, every agency: the creative process. It’s not a linear process, it almost never goes where you expect it to, it involves many different people and steps and most importantly inspiration can spark from anywhere.

I wanted to have some elements inspired by our founding year in 1967, Kansas City, the WTA team, advertising, and the creative process. I combined all of these elements to create this electric composition. Each and every little element has a meaning, however it is up to the viewer to decide what it means to them.

What does it mean to be creative? How is a creative idea born? Does it start with a spark? An inkling, a seed, a whisper of thought? A word, a color, a mark on the ground? Is it magic? Or madness? Or all of the above?

This piece answers what it means to be creative at Walz Tetrick. It describes the creative process in the most poetically abstract way possible.

Our creative roots take hold in1967 when the agency was founded. From there we travel on a visual and editorial odyssey deep into the rabbit holes of our minds—the long roads winding through the consumer landscape, cultural trends, and even into outer space as we let our brains engage in fantastical wanderlust.

We are tethered to our home in Kansas City, but our reach is far. When the creative spark ignites, the ripple effect fans out and is amplified through collaboration, teamwork and the pure love of our craft.
